Apple acquires Ed Sheeran’s documentary Songwriter


The film screened on Monday 23 April at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Ed Sheeran‘s Songwriter, made a debut in New York, which was directed by Murray Cummings. It is basically a documentary made on his rise of the career. Apple has made a deal worth seven figures and the documentary will be released in theatres and also on its own platform.

Apple’s music subscription is going to play an important role in this release. Apple is putting a good amount of money in this. Sheeran’s cousin and some other collaborators have spent a lot of years following this sensation around and documenting his rise in the music, from his opening performances for Taylor Swift to sold-out gigs at Wembley Stadium everything is in it. Cummings the director, and also the cousin of Ed Sheeran said that it takes a lot to write the song. He also mentioned that it is his privilege to film him as Ed Sheeran. It was produced by Kimmie Kim and executive produced by Stuart Camp and Stefan Demetriou. It’s going to premiere soon.

Its assumed that it’s going to hit the Apple platform as it involves his unique style. But Apple is yet to confirm it. This deal was done by Larry Jackson, head content for Apple and former executive at Interscope. It traces the Grammy winner.
