Apple Event 2018: Major highlights & details you should know!

Apple’s launch event finally happened and September just really became September. Most of the Apple fanatics would already have watched the event live. However, for those who unfortunately couldn’t, we’ve got you covered.

Apple Watch 4

Apple started off the event by introducing the next generation Apple Watch S4. The smartwatch, as expected, unveiled a bigger display ( 30% larger) and a re-engineered crown with haptic feedback. It made the watch more user-friendly. It also featured a next generation acceleration gyroscope, with up to 32 g-forces recognisability. The watch made its case for being the best smartwatch out there by inculcating an electrocardiogram (ECG). It offers the same all day 18- hour battery life. The pricing, as expected, touched the higher end. The GPS variants hit the market at $399, whereas the cellular version hit at $499. The series 4 will be available to buy from September 14

iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

Tim Cook, as usual, himself introduced the most awaited product of the launch event, the new iPhone. First off, iPhone XS ( pronounced as ten-ess), another one of the ‘ most advanced mobile device ever created’. This variant covers both the 5.8  and the 6.5 in OLED( super retina) version. The larger version is called iPhone XS Max. Out in 3 colors of gold, silver and matte black, the iPhone boasts the best roaming facility.

The best part is, that Apple has finally inculcated the dual sim option. You can now keep two phone numbers with different plans! To top it off, Apple introduced a new system called DSDS ( Dual sim dual standby ), which allows the activation of the eSim. With the predicted A12 bionic chip, the iPhone will have a battery life. Coming to the camera, these iPhones will sport two 12MP back cameras, one wide angle, and one telephoto. The front camera is a 7MP RGB sensor camera with a f/2.2 aperture. IR and Dot sensors are also included. It will come in 3 variants of storage, with the highest being half a terabyte.

iPhone XR

The biggest win for Apple would be that they finally made an iPhone that a regular customer can afford. The iPhone XR ( pronounced ex-are). This iPhone has the most advanced liquid retina LCD display ever in a smartphone. However, it would only feature a single lens 12 MP wide angle camera. Its battery is a basically an upgrade to the battery life of the iPhone 8 Plus. This new revolutionary device will come in a shocking 6 finishes. However, the max storage capacity of this phone will be limited to 256GB.

Apple also added upgrades to the HomePod, adding the stereo mode when two of the devices are used together. The Apple TV 4K also received new upgrades, available from September 20th.

In all, Apple focused on another eventful September launch with new and more exciting devices. The only low point was the absence of the AirPower wireless charging system, which was teased almost a year ago.
