Apple launches indoor maps for major Airports and Malls

Apple Maps has obtained indoor maps for a supplementary four international airports and one shopping mall throughout the world.

The newly authorized airports involve Charlotte Douglas International in North Carolina, Québec City Jean Lesage International in Canada, Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International and Taoyuan International in Taiwan.

While looking for these airports, users can tap “look inside” or just zoom to see terminals, boarding gates, security checkpoints, baggage claim carousels, restrooms, stores, restaurants, parking garages, and even escalators, airline check-in desks, elevators, and stairs.

According to Apple’s iOS feature availability page, the indoor map is also presently open at the Trinity Leeds shopping centre in England.

For shopping malls, Indoor maps make it simpler to see the accurate location of stores, restaurants, restrooms, elevators, and stairs on each floor. This feature allows users to filter shops by sections, such as clothes, shoes, accessories, beauty, food, and more with specific place cards for all.

When the feature was released with iOS 11, It was only available in a few of airports and shopping malls throughout the world. But Apple has been regularly supplementing locations over the past year.

The list covers airports and shopping malls in elite cities over North America and Europe, including Baltimore, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and Washington, DC.
