Last year Apple launched the red variant of the iPhone 7 at this time of the year. We were hoping that Apple will launch a Product Red iPhone this year as well, the iPhone X in the red variant. Apple did launch a red colored iPhone but it was the iPhone 8. The iPhone 8 won’t differ from the standard models in any way apart from the color.
Apple is working with Product (RED), an organization whose campaign is to fight HIV and AIDS in Africa. A portion of the income from the sales of Apple’s Product (RED) iPhones is donated to this organization. The iPhone 8 and 8 plus have a black front panel. The last years, iPhone 7 and 7 plus had a white front panel.
The iPhone 7 and 7 plus Product (RED) models were discontinued last year after the announcement of the new iPhones. The new red colored iPhone 8s will join the existing colors which are available in space gray, silver, and gold colors. Apple also introduced a new (PRODUCT) RED iPhone X Leather Folio, available beginning tomorrow.
The new iPhone 8 and 8 plus will be available for pre-order starting from 10th of April. The price will be the same as the other variants, ie. $699 for a 64GB iPhone 8 and $799 for an 8 Plus. Looking at the iPhone 7 Product (RED), these phones will be on sale until September. They might be discontinued when Apple launches the iPhone 9/XI later this year.
