Most of the Mac users very well-known about what type of device they are using. For example like MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or any other devices or many other know the model year of their computer and very fewer people known about known about the identifier number. This identifier number is in the format of Model Name Model Number followed by revision.
This model identifier number is rarely required in the case of troubleshooting specific problems, purchasing specific hardware upgrades, or just for properly referencing a specified model of a given Mac. Even through this model number is slightly related to technical not all the users will refer to this identify number. OS X makes it easy to know Mac model identifier number quickly. If you’re not know model identifier number then simply follow the steps given below :
- Hold and press the option key and click on the Apple menu.
- Choose the system information from the top of the list in the window appeared
- In the System Information detailed window, choose Hardware (usually selected by default) and locate the “Model Identifier” within Hardware Overview.
As mentioned above, the Model identifier number will always be name and numeric Started with model name and model number followed by revision. For example MacBookAir3,1 where model name is Macbook Air, model name id 3 and 1 is revision. The syntax will be same for the all other devices in the Mac.
