How to use iPhone, iPad to scan any bar code or QR code

In this modern era, finding a right product is just a scan away. In fact, we use multiple scanning apps to scan multiple products, which consume a lot of space. Did you know that your Apple iPhone and Apple iPad came with a built-in Barcode and QR code scanner?

Yes, you heard us right, in fact, the built-in scanner on the iOS-powered device is much faster, better, and speedier. So, here are the step by step instructions to use the built-in barcode scanner and how to use it in day-to-day situations.

To do the same, there is no dedicated application called Barcode scanner or QR code scanner, this process uses iOS built-in camera applications and works like charm. Follow the instructions to scan the QR codes and Barcodes.

  • Make sure that you have placed your Barcode or QRcode in the well-lit condition.
  • Open the camera app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Align the Barcode in the centre, making sure that, the entire barcode is inside the viewfinder.
  • That’s all, you will receive the details provided on the barcode in your notification shade.

If you are new towards the QR code world, QR code can contain anything from the contact information, address information, website link, pricing, manufacturer information and WiFi information. As adding these details to a plain text will consume a lot of space and does not offer a pleasing look.

As Apple iPhones and iPads do not feature an SD card slot, saving few MB of space will be a lot helpful to carry additional information. In fact, this tutorial works well with iPhones or iPads running on iOS 9, iOS 10, and iOS 11 operating system.
