An iPhone case vendor is believed to have leaked the design of the Apple’s refresh of the low-cost iPhone X, iPhone SE 2. The case manufacturer Olixar and retailer MobileFun have started accepting pre-orders for an iPhone SE 2 screen protector that shows the iPhone X-style bezel-less display. Even before the phone has come out the case has been listed for sale.
The render clearly shows off an iPhone 5s-style chassis along with iPhone X-style edge-to-edge screen. Imitating the high-end premium handset, the image shows iPhone SE 2 without the Touch ID button which suggests that the phone might be featuring the notch which houses the camera for using Face ID and TrueDepth features for Face ID and biometric security.
There has been a lot of rumours regarding the next iPhone SE 2. Most of them suggest that the iPhone will be retaining its current feature with a few material upgrades like the use of glass back for wireless charging. Although the design is speculated to be there same, there is ought to be a spec upgrade. The phone will probably be boasting the A10 Fusion processor along with 2 gigabytes of RAM and 32- and 128-gigabyte storage options.
However, we believe that might not be entirely true. If Apple Inc indeed opts for adding the edge-to-edge display along with the TrueDepth camera array, then it would be violating the whole point of iPhone SE 2. iPhone SE 2 is solely aimed at being a cheaper experience of iPhone’s premium touch. Adding the above-said feature would hike the device’s price exponentially. This rumour doesn’t exactly make sense.
Maybe this render leak is a guess-work. Maybe the manufacturer just combined all the rumours floating in the air and created something that resembles the news. This might be a step to get a good number of orders before the release of the phone. But one should now consider Olixar lightly. He was the source of the leak back in June ahead of iPhone X’s launch which pointed towards the presence of notched display. The company was forced to release the renders for iPhone X one day later.
Will it have a notch or not? Will it feature an edge-to-edge display? Only time will tell. The phone was scheduled to launch as early as March 2018. However, that clearly hasn’t happened so one can hope it gets introduced by the end of May this year.
