Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 49 vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 2017

Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gautam Gambhir’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locked horns at the Eden Gardens in 2017. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batting first got off to a good start but Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) bowlers fought back to get them all out on a mediocre score of 131. In reply, the RCB batting lineup collapsed rather gloriously and got all out for a measly score of 49 with none of their batters registering a double-digit score. The KKR’s bowling trio of Colin de Grandhomme, Chris Woakes and Nathan Coulter-Nile bowled wonderfully and got three wickets each. At the end of this match, RCB became the holder of the lowest score in IPL history. Interestingly, the team holds the record for the highest score in the IPL history as well. RCB didn’t have a great season in IPL 2017 as evident by this result and finished last in the group stage and achieved RCB lowest score in ipl scorecard.

Rajasthan Royals’ 58 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2009

Rajasthan Royals (RR) met Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on the opening day of IPL 2009. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting first scored 133-8 in their allotted overs. Rahul Dravid top-scored with 66 runs and the captain Kevin Pietersen scored 32 runs in their innings. Chasing a mediocre target, the champions of the inaugural season of IPL Rajasthan Royals (RR) faltered splendidly and got bundled out for 58 runs. Anil Kumble was the main architect of the Shane Warne led side’s destruction, returning the figures of 5/5 in 3.1 overs. Rajasthan Royals (RR) held the record of the worst IPL team score for nearly eight years till 2017. They ended the 2009 IPL season in the 6th position.

Delhi Daredevils’ 66 vs Mumbai Indians, 2017

Zaheer Khan led Delhi Daredevils (DD) faced Mumbai Indians (MI) which was captained by Rohit Sharma, in 2017. The Delhi Captain after winning the toss invited Mumbai Indians (MI) to bat first. MI batting lineup performed well and posted a high total of 212-3 in their 20 overs. The star performers with the bat for MI were Lendl Simmons (66 runs), Kieron Pollard (63 runs) and Hardik Pandya (29 runs). In reply, the Delhi batsmen never settled and got all out rather cheaply for a score of 66. Karan Sharma and Harbhajan Singh combined and took 6 wickets from Mumbai Indians’ (MI) side.  Interestingly this miserable performance came a week after their atrocious display against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), the details of which are provided next.

Delhi Daredevils’ 67 vs Kings XI Punjab, 2017

Zaheer Khan’s Delhi Daredevils (DD) were asked to bat first by the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain Glenn Maxwell after winning the toss on a pleasant evening in Mohali. What followed wasn’t a pleasant evening for the Delhi Daredevils (DD). Sandeep Sharma opened the bowling for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and got four wickets in his spell. The Delhi team never recovered from this setback and got all out for 67. In reply, the openers for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) chased the target with ease in 7.5 overs with Martin Guptill scoring a brisk 50 runs. Delhi Daredevils (DD) ended the season in 6th position on the points table.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ 67 vs Mumbai Indians, 2008

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI), respectively led by two legends of the game in Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar, faced each other in Mumbai in the inaugural season of IPL. Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and asked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to bat first. Shaun Pollock (3-12) and Dwayne Bravo (2-13) never let the Kolkata batsmen settle on the pitch and they inevitably got out for a low score in IPL of 67. In reply, Sanath Jayasuriya played a blistering knock of 48 off 17 balls and Mumbai Indians (MI) easily completed the chase with 14.3 overs to spare. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ended the season in 6th position on the points table.
