UnionPay is the largest bank card provider in the china country, but previous this App Store has not supported the payment method. Now Apple has been announced that this inconvenience is resolved and the customers in the China can able to link up with their Apple ID with debit or credit cards from UnionPay.
Apple’s senior vice president of internet software and services, Eddy Cue says that the ability to buy apps and make purchase using unionpay cards has been one of the most requested features from our customers in China. Apple has tried to drive the adoption of mobile payments on its platforms, but China’s complex banking payment system makes it difficult to carry out any kind of online payment.
Before UnionPay was added, Apple mainly relied on a top-up system for its app store in China, with a 50 CNY ($8.16) minimum value. The UnionPay payment option means money is transferred directly from a bank account for the exact amount of each purchase. Actually Tim Cook said he was in talks with Alibaba to integrate Alipay with Apple Pay system and also officially Apple has said that it is working to bring Apple pay to more United States banks over time and also in a plan to expand it internationally.
