Dubai International Airport has achieved a remarkable milestone, welcoming 23,052,060 passengers during the first quarter of 2024. This impressive figure represents an 8.3% increase compared to the same period last year. The bustling hub has set a new record for passenger traffic, demonstrating its resilience and growth trajectory.
India Leads the Way
India emerged as the top destination for flights from Dubai International during Q1, with 3.1 million customers choosing the route. Saudi Arabia followed closely with two million passengers, while the UK contributed 1.5 million travelers. These numbers underscore the airport’s global connectivity and its role as a vital link between continents.
London Takes the Spotlight
In terms of cities, London stood out as the leading market, with a total of 961,000 passengers heading to the UK capital during the first quarter. The city’s popularity is evident, driven by Emirates’ extensive network connecting London’s Gatwick, Heathrow, and Stansted airports with more than 80 weekly flights from Dubai International.
Optimistic Outlook
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, expressed optimism about the future: “As Dubai emerges as a global leader for attracting talent, businesses, and tourists from across the globe, our focus remains on sustaining growth momentum and enhancing the overall airport experience for every guest passing through our terminals.” With a strong start to Q2, Dubai International Airport has revised its forecast for the year, aiming to surpass the previous annual traffic record of 89.1 million passengers set in 2018. The projected figure for 2024 now stands at 91 million guests.
